2026 April 9: Lebanon KOA

The RV is packed! Arrangements have been made to watch the house and take care of mail. We pull out of the house and connect the Minnie to the Winnie. And the brake lights don’t light on the Minnie! Ninety minutes later I have plugged and wiggled and measured voltages, and the brake lights work! I believe the problem was poor electrical connections with the trailer electrical cable, and have since scraped the contacts to remove corrosion. But that was not how I wanted to start the trip…

But we made good time south to Lebanon. The roads were not heavily traveled and the weather was clear. We started out in freezing weather in Cleveland (technically it was above freezing by the time we left) and it was in the 70’s in Lebanon. But I was surprised that we didn’t see many flowering trees along the way.

We pulled into the KOA Lebanon campground (Lebanon/Cincinnati KOA). We were surprised that it was located in such a densely populated area, it felt that we never actually left the city of Lebanon. For example, there were apartment buildings in front of the campground. But the apartment building and the rest of the suburbia probably developed after the campground was established.

Emily and Jordan Adams joined us (with their kids) for an evening at the campground. And the kids loved it! We had burgers and hot dogs for dinner, along with potato salad, potato chips and vegetables and fruits.

The family also toured the Winnie. The last time they saw it was during winter and we had not extended the slide-out. They were impressed at how much larger the RV was.

Afterwards we went to the playground, where the boys made up some ninja-styled obstacle courses to overcome. They had been watching American Ninja (or something similar) before coming over. Mary Eleanor was not a ninja, she was just having fun.

We closed out our visit with the Adams’ family with a campfire. The fire didn’t really take off until they had left, there was some wet wood that didn’t want to light up. The campfire fit right in with the chaos of the evening. But it was a fun chaos and we are glad that we got to see all seven of the Cincinnati Adams.

After the Adams’ had left, I pulled out my new map. It will show the states that we have camped in with our RV. The only exception to that rule is Hawaii. We had a blast visiting it in 2022, and I have no plans to take the RV there.
