After some golf we took our RV through the southern part of Rochester NY to get to the next campsite. Some of the roads I remember from my previous stays, but the highlight of the trip was being next to the Erie Canal.

The site we stayed at was very spacious, and the surrounding sites were situated like spokes on a wheel. There were lots of open spaces, so we didn’t feel crowded. The campground will rent kayaks and bikes to enjoy the canal. The pool was closed (even though the weather was warm enough for a swim.)

The weather was very pleasant, getting into the upper 70’s during the day. But we did get frost on our first morning. It is still surprisingly warm for October with the temperatures getting into the high 60s.
Steve got a 30 mile bike ride on the canal, getting into Pittsford before turning around. The canal is still in use, there were kayakers and big boats cruising up and down. And the canal is much bigger than the Cuyahoga Valley Canal…

And Steve and Lexie got some good hikes in at the nearby Bullis Park. While walking around the park we found a trail into the woods. The challenge was finding a way off the trail. Signs were around pointing to the ‘Trail Head’, but no trail head was found!
Vicki and Steve went out and ate at Aladdin’s Natural Food for dinner. This is a small chain of Lebanese food that is very similar to the Aladdin’s Eatery in the Cleveland (and other) areas. Very similar includes having the same logo! The reason for the similarities: the original Aladdin’s was from Rochester but one of the employees left and started restaurants in Ohio. There is an agreement that the newer Aladdin’s won’t open restaurants in the same state as the original. And the founder is happy with having his restaurants in New York.
We did make a trip to Wegman’s, the best grocery store in upstate New York. But we were full from dinner at Aladdin’s, (and tired) so we didn’t buy much.
