2026 Feb 19: A night in Naples

We left Bradenton and headed south to Naples. We found our next home: Hightide Naples RV resort, which was next to the Naples airport. We set up camp quickly because there were places we wanted to be.

We then took Lexie to Mada’s for her day care. Mada, found from Rover.com, was very good at getting Lexie comfortable with her doggie buddies for the day. Lexie had a great afternoon. V: Rover.com was a good experience for us and Lexie. Our concern is the RV could get too hot for her while we are doing our dogless explorations. And I think she had fun.

Vicki and Steve then drove over to Naples Docks to catch up with Greg and Barb. Afternoon turned into evening all too quickly as we admired their boat, compared nomadic lifestyles and talked about families (i.e. grandkids). We had a great dinner (grouper with crabcakes) and great key lime pie at the restaurant by the dock: The Dock at Crayton Cove. https://www.dockcraytoncove.com/

V: The area of Naples that we landed in was BUSY! Busy traffic, lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and of course the docks and marina. I would like to return to the area but head to the beaches next time as well as check out the Fort Meyers area and other beaches on the Gulf of Mexico coastline. This trip’s objective was to catch up with Greg and Barb and enjoy time with them and enjoy their beautiful yacht Namaste II. They gave us the great tip about the Gordon River Greenway.

The next morning Steve and Vicki fit in a quick bike ride along the Gordon River Greenway. The greenway is very picturesque and popular with plenty of pedestrians and cyclists to ride around.

Sadly, on leaving Naples Steve turned the RV too soon and hit a gas pump bollard. The cargo bay door was damaged, and now the challenge is to get the RV ready for our next trip.
